Stephen Shaw

LLB (Hons)/BSocSc, University of Waikato Senior Solicitor (07) 927 2431 Email Stephen Shaw

Stephen is a senior solicitor working primarily with Thomas Refoy-Butler in the litigation team.  He brings specialist experience to employment and health and safety issues, but also works in many other areas including contractual/commercial disputes and regulatory litigation.

Stephen attended The University of Waikato, where he gained a Law degree with Honours and a Social Science degree majoring in Political Science.  During his studies, Stephen interned with the Police Prosecution Service in Hamilton, as well as summer clerking with a large corporate law firm in their Auckland office.

After graduating, Stephen joined the employment litigation team at the same corporate firm in Auckland.  In his three and a half years in this role, he gained extensive experience in employment and health and safety law, working on a wide range of issues including personal grievances, restructures, employment agreements and health and safety risk advice/prosecutions.  He also worked on regulatory issues and commercial contract disputes.

Other than law, Stephen enjoys tennis, rugby and music, as well as spending time with friends.  His family has lived just over the Kaimais in Putaruru for generations, and the move from Auckland has meant being able to spend more time with them – one of the many perks of moving to the beautiful Bay of Plenty!
